CHAMAEMELUM NOBILE
EARTH ELEMENT
HARMONY QI 土
Chamomile is one of the oldest known medicinal herbs and is part of the Asteraceae family. Named by the ancient Greeks as “ground apple” kamai (on the ground) and melon (apple) due to its sweet, apple-like fragrance. Chamomile's use has been documented as far back as the ancient Egyptians where Chamomile was associated with the gods of the sun and used in in treatment of diseases.
Chamomile is native to Western Europe, North Africa, Europe and Asia. As an annual, it is very hardy and will grow in the smallest of spaces and was once used as a turf due to toughness. They reseed themselves readily and thrive on neglect as long as they get a bit of sun. Moreover, Chamomile is a wonderful companion plant in the garden because it prevents fungal and bacterial infections in the plants around it and also repels insects.
- Bodily Effect: Chamomile can relieve pain and ease symptoms of anxiety and depression while having anticancer properties.
- Emotional Effect: Synonymous with calm, Chamomile reduces moderate to severe symptoms of generalized anxiety.
- Spiritual Effect: Chamomile brings luck, purification, protection and healing.
"Chamomile as a bed of flowers creates as much beauty as it protects and heals us."
