Also known as Indian gooseberry, the Alma Berry is known as a rasayana herb which is anything that lends to enhancing youth and vitality and essentially means 'to make young again'. Amla (botanical name Phyllanthus Emblica) is an elegant ornamental tree, which usually grows up to a height of 60 feet (18 meters). In some rare cases, the tree may even be 100 feet (30 meters) tall. 

The nutritional properties of the Alma Berry include carotenoids, polyphenols, flavones, and bioflavonoids and has been one of the most popular superfoods among health enthusiasts. It contains vitamin C, calcium, iron, phosphorous, carotene, vitamin B, protein and fibre.

Alma Berry imparts a sour, astringent taste combined with a sweet and bitter undertone flavor.
